Tom Welling on What He’s Doing Next
filed in Articles, Interviews, Tom Welling

Here’s an article/interview about Tom Welling (Hellcats Producer). He talks about Smallville, and of course about Hellcats.

The Wall Street Journal: What are your plans after this — more science fiction? And are you going to focus on acting or directing?

Tom Welling: I sort of subscribe to the idea of no limitations. I want to do it all – I know that there are some people who since I’ve been doing the creating and directing and producing of another show, “Hellcats,” and working over there simultaneously with “Smallville,” some people are like, “oh he doesn’t want to act anymore” but that would be a mistake. At my core I still want to act, I’ve just also been trying to, you know, take advantage of all of the opportunities I have and create some more cool things.

Vote for Hellcats at E!Online
filed in Articles, Show

Hellcats has been nominated as Annual Tater Tops Awards on E!Online. You can vote untill July 20th.

When one TiVo season pass ends, another begins. That’s the beauty of television. A show can dump you without warning, but there’s usually a younger, hotter show to take its place. Which is why we’re extra excited to see how you vote in this round of the Tater Awards. You nominated, we counted. And behold! Your nominees for Most Heartbreaking Cancellation and New Fall Show You’re Most Excited About.

As always, voting and nominating is up and running until July 20, when we announce the winners. And we promise, the minions from CBS/ABC/NBC/etc. cannot come into these polls and spam the results. We made sure of that with our clever anti-spam ways. Cast a vote for those we lost and those we are anxious to welcome into our hearts. We just hope they don’t break it.

Gail O’Grady brings the mean
filed in Articles, Cast, Gail O'Grady

There is an article about Gail O’Grady in Hellcats. According to Fancast, she will appear as Marti’s (Aly Michalka) mom. Read below…

According to Fancast, O’Grady will face off with the reincarnated attorney this summer on Lifetime’s “Drop Dead Diva.”In the August 29 episode, O’Grady plays the mom of a 16-year-old girl who’s being sued for “cyber-bullying.”

While Jane tries to take her daughter down for the charge, O’Grady will be shooting her dirty looks and claim her daughter’s actions are covered under the right to free speech.

With Jane finding more of her feelings from her “pre-switch” life coming back to her, we think we’ll find out that the original Jane was bullied once herself. What do you think?

Grady, who has been nominated for an Emmy three times, will appear this fall in The CW’s new pilot, “Hellcats”, as Marti’s (Aly Michalka) immature mom.

Hellcats gets a lesbian cheerleader
filed in Articles, Elena Esovolova, Show

There are some news about Elena Esovolova (Patty Wedgerman) and her role in the show.

A CW spokesperson has told us (via AfterElton.com) that Elena Esovolova will play a lesbian cheerleader in the new series Hellcats, debuting this fall.

Esovolova will play Patty “The Wedge” Wedgerman. How did she get that nickname? I guess finding out gives us one more reason to tune in. Patty is described as “ballsy, fearless and cheerfully profane” and is the “base” for the Hellcats. (I’m told that “base” is a great position for any aspiring lesbian.)

Hellcats is from executive producer Tom Welling of Smallville and executive producers Kevin Murphy (Desperate Housewives) and Allan Arkus (Heroes). Yes, you can insert your joke about obsession with lesbian cheerleaders here.

Pick Your New CW Fave at E!Online
filed in Articles, Show

WWK has a new funny poll about the two upcoming CW shows: Hellcats and Nikita. Which CW series looks most exciting to you?

Hellcats: Bring it On comes to the small screen in this dramedy about the hellish world of college cheerleading. The show is based on the book Cheer: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders by Kate Torgovnick. Hellcats stars Disney darling Ashley Tisdale, as well as Alyson Michalka and Matt Barr. Plus, ahem, Tom Welling’s producer title in the credits each week…hello?!

CTV Fall Preview
filed in Articles, Show

There are two articles about the CTV Fall Preview for Hellcats. The show will air on A Channel.

When “indie rocker chick” Marti Perkins (Aly Michalka) loses out on an academic scholarship, she decides to join her school’s cheerleading squad — cue the mean girls and the backstabbing. It co-stars Ashley Tisdale (of High School Musical fame) and is pitched as “a dramatic comedy about the pressures of college life,” with pop numbers. Our source’s comments: “I’ve seen parts of this, too, and it’s pretty bad. For obvious reasons, CTV wants to tap into the success of Glee — this is basically like Bring It On meets Glee — but it doesn’t come together.” (Source)

Hellcats, a set-in-Tennessee ensemble dramedy about college cheerleaders, loosely based on Kate Torgovnick’s book Cheer! Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders, and co-produced by Smallville’s Tom Welling, featuring Ashley Tisdale of High School Musical fame. (Source)
