Aly revealed some interesting fact about the upcoming episodes and what can be expected in the “relationship department”…
Behind the cut due to massive spoilers for the upcoming episodes.
Though when Hellcats returns with all new episodes on April 19th Dan (Matt Barr) and Savannah (Ashley Tisdale) are very much in a good place, relationship-wise, series star Aly Michalka couldn’t help but express her interest in seeing Marti get back together with Dan.
“You get really attached to these characters,” Michalka said during a press conference for the show today in Los Angeles. “You want Marti and Dan to have that relationship because they’re this perfect yin and yang to each other. And they would have these adorable, tow-headed babies! It’s good.”
And for those inclined to agree with her, she pointed out that there will always be a tension and an attraction between Marti and Dan, due in part to their history, so in many ways, it will always go back to them trying to see if it can work now, with a little more time and maturity under their belt.
Series exeuctive producer Kevin Reilly added that “it is inevitable that we will return to that, but we will return to that slowly.” Basically, don’t get your hopes up for another steamy car encounter before the end of the first season, but he is already planning character arcs for a sophomore year.
Instead the final five episodes of the first season will rekindle the Julian (Gale Harold) and Marti relationship.
“He’s not her professor at the time [so that] makes it P.C.!” Michalka wanted everyone to realize.
“But with Gale [Harold], I think there’s this maturity, and there’s this kind of taboo relationship between the two of them that makes it interesting and sexy– the fact that Marti is younger than Julian but the fact that she’s mature for her age and there is that connect with the intelligence level…makes sense for them to have that relationship,” she continued.
However, Marti will learn some things about Julian and his past that make her realize that as mature as she may be, she is still young in other ways. She has to come to terms with some of his secrets, just like she will have to come to terms with some of her own family’s secrets, and in doing so, she will have to “step it up,” in Michalka’s own words, in order to keep up with the relationship.
And Barr wanted to put all of that in perspective for the fans: “Older intellect [versus] young, raw passion,” he shrugged. “You decide!”
Hellcats airs on Tuesday nights at 9pm only on The CW.
