THE CW NETWORK IS BRINGING HELLCATS TO THE HEART OF FRISCO, TX FOR THE LARGEST CHEERLEADING EVENT THE NATION HAS EVER SEEN

Network invites Cheerleaders and Fans to Attempt to Break the Official Guinness World Records™ mark for the “Largest Cheerleading Dance” in celebration of the show’s September 8th premiere

$4k Award for the Squad Who Bring the Most Dance Participants

BURBANK, CA (September 3, 2010) – On September 4, The CW Network plans to turn Frisco Memorial Stadium in Frisco, TX into Cheerleader Headquarters in advance of the premiere of its new fall series HELLCATS, beginning September 8th and starring Aly Michalka (“Bandslam”) and Ashley Tisdale (“High School Musical”). The CW Network is attempting to break the Guinness World Records™ mark for the “Largest Cheerleading Dance” at a single venue by inviting cheerleading squads to participate in a 5-minute choreographed HELLCATS dance.

To help HELLCATS achieve a new Guinness World Records™ mark, The CW Network is working with the Cheer Channel, the first and only online network that serves as the premier destination for the millions of cheerleaders, dancers, and fans of the spirit industry, to rally the squads and get them prepared for the synchronized event. Cheer Channel coaches will rehearse the official “Hellcats” cheer with participants prior to the official attempt to break the existing record. Friends, family, and fans are invited to the event to support all the participants.

To add to the excitement, The CW will grant $4,000 to the cheerleading squad who succeeds in bringing the most dance participants to the gathering.

During the three hour event, The CW Network will treat participants to exclusive clips from the HELLCATS series, stage activities and giveaways. The first 400 participants to register will receive a special commemorative t-shirt, while all participants will walk away with a commemorative certificate to document the unique event.

HELLCATS is a coming-of-age story about Marti Perkins, a young, pre-law student at Lancer University in Memphis, Tennessee. Marti is cool, hip and alt, but her world flips upside down, literally and figuratively, when she loses her scholarship, and realizes the only way she can stay in school is by reigniting her dormant teen gymnastic skills to win a place on Lancer’s legendary cheerleading team, The Hellcats. Against her every instinct, Marti goes for it and makes the squad, and is thrust into a world of camaraderie, backstabbing and the intersection of sports, backroom academia and big money. Marti’s new roommate, Savannah Monroe, a petite, peppy Texan, is among the diverse cast of athletes, undergrads, family and friends, all set on the sprawling campus of a powerhouse college football program in the deep South. The series stars Aly Michalka as Marti Perkins, Ashley Tisdale as Savannah Monroe, Heather Hemmens as Alice Verdura, Robbie Jones as Lewis Flynn, Matt Barr as Dan Patch, with Sharon Leal as Vanessa Lodge and Gail O’Grady as Wanda Perkins.

HELLCATS premieres Wednesday, September 8th (9:00-10:00p.m. ET) on The CW.
